چکیده

This report outlines recent notable extra-galactic source observations by the CANGAROO-II 10-m telescope. Flux upper limits above ∼400 GeV were obtained from observations of the BL Lacertae object, PKS2155−304, in 2000 and 2001. Diffuse gamma-ray emission from the starburst galaxy NGC 253 was also detected at a high confidence level, and E>10 TeV gamma-rays were observed with 5.7 σ significance fromMarkarian 421 by very large zenith angle observations.

TeV Gamma-Ray Observations of Southern Hemisphere BL Lacertae Objects with CANGAROO-II/III Telescope

Since 1999, several BL Lac objects, such as PKS 2155–304 (z=0.116) and PKS 2005–489 (z=0.072) have been observed with the CANGAROO-II imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope. We obtained flux upper limits for these objects. Here we present the results of our observations of these objects, particularly those observed since 2000, and discuss the implications for the emission models and the absorp...

The effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations

Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...

TeV Gamma Ray Emission from Southern Sky Objects and CANGAROO Project

We report recent results of the CANGAROO Collaboration on very high energy gamma ray emission from pulsars, their nebulae, SNR and AGN in the southern sky. Observations are made in South Australia using the imaging technique of detecting atmospheric Cerenkov light from gamma rays higher than about 1 TeV. The detected gamma rays are most likely produced by the inverse Compton process by electron...

Very High Energy Gamma-ray Observations of the Galactic Center with the CANGAROO-II telescope

The Galactic Center has been observed with the CANGAROO-II atmospheric Cherenkov telescope in 2001 and 2002. We have analyzed the data with a likelihood method to discriminate gamma-ray events from background cosmicray events using image parameters. The details of the analysis method and the preliminary results are presented.

Recent Status and Results of CANGAROO Collaboration

CANGAROO 3.8m telescope was renewed by recoating its mirror in 1996, and the energy threshold was decreased near 1 TeV. The most recent results of CANGAROO observation are reported as well as the current status of CANGAROO Project. In addition to Crab, PSR B1706-44 and Vela pulsars, from which we have so far detected TeV signal, the observation by the 3.8 m telescope in 1996 and 1997 have been ...
